WHY THE HOLY TRAIL?

All of the races will follow several trails that take you through medieval and Holy East Anglia, all finishing in Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad. Below you will find all the information you should need.

The 50 mile race starts at Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad.

The route quickly joins the Via Beata (https://www.viabeata.co.uk/), a fabulous route joining the most Easterly Point of Britain (Ness Point, Lowestoft) to the most Westerly point  (St David’s in Wales). The 50 mile route then joins East Suffolk Lines Walk and winds its way to Holton, joining the 50 km route.

The 50 km race starts at Holton Village Hall, Holton

It crosses the wild and beautiful Blythburgh marshes with the impressive Holy Trinity Church at Blythburgh, visible from several miles away. The cathedral of the marshes will draw you onwards to join the Sandlings Way as it runs alongside Angel marshes  and through Deadman's Covert on the way to Walberswick. Then the route skips along the coast to Lowestoft visiting Southwold, Benacre, Covehithe (with it's amazing church within a church) Kessingland Beach and Pakefield. From here you'll meet the promenade at Lowestoft and join the Via Beata back to Oulton Broad.

The Marathon race starts in Walberswick

You start with a loop of Walberswick and then follow the Suffolk Coastal Path to iconic Southwold and inland to Reydon. Then back out the coast to the little-known Covehithe. You will continue to follow the coastal path to Kessingland, Pakefield and Lowestoft, before heading to the finish at Nicholas Everitt Park.
